First setback

The road to getting published is a long one with many stops and bumps, I knew this, but I hit my first real stumbling block a couple of days ago.

I have some bits of story that never made it to the book, as well as some cut scenes that I want to share with everyone. I am rather fond of a couple of these, and I can’t bear the idea of them never seeing the light of day, so to speak.

My original plan was to post these here; then I discovered that Squarespace and most comparable services generally don’t allow “explicit” content, and a few of the things I want to post are very much explicit. Hmmm. No biggy I think, I’ll just post them on Literotica and put the link up on here. I did try to clear doing that with Squarespace, but they basically ran away, saying, “we aren’t going to say yes or no.” I assume that’s so if someone has an issue with my site’s content, later on, they can say, “We didn’t okay this,” and they can pull my site. I’m not too fond of that, but there isn’t much I can do about it.

Toward that end, I recently put one of these cut scenes on Literotica. Like always, this goes off to get checked over, basically to make sure you are following the guidelines.

They rejected it! I wasn’t expecting that as I don’t write stuff outside their guidelines. I openly stated what the story was, and mentioned that the book it came from was on their site. Well, the short version is. They don’t allow teasers or story snippets! If I had been less honest, it would have gone through no problem as it could be viewed as just a short bit of erotica. Sigh.

Now it’s back to the drawing board. I have to find a place that allows explicit content and isn’t picky about it belonging to something longer. I’m sure it’s out there, I just have to look for it.

It is annoying to have a roadblock in a place I never expected one. It didn’t once occur to me that Literotica might not allow my post’s contents. I figured they could have issues with me linking to somewhere else, but not content. Ah well, just one more step to this process, I guess.
